Shelter manager and pet rescuer Lauren Vancouver once again
takes on the role of amateur sleuth when there’s a murder on a
film set . . .
Has Hollywood gone to the dogs? Pet
rescuer Lauren Vancouver is observing production on a new movie
called Sheba’s Story. The title character—a white
Miniature poodle—is played by many similar-looking poodles, and
to make sure no animals are harmed, Lauren’s friend,
veterinarian Carlie Stellan, and Grant, a handsome
representative from the American Humane Association, are on
location. But when the film’s director is killed in a suspicious
hit-and-run after arguing with Carlie about animal safety, it’s
up to Lauren to clear her friend’s name and catch a killer
before someone else ends up in oodles of deadly trouble.
Reviews
"I love this series because the author takes
on real things that happen with animals and builds her
intriguing mysteries around that issue. I have wondered for
years about animals on television and movies and will now look
for the “No Animals Harmed” tagline. Great Characters –
Great Animals – Great Setting – Great Plot – Great Cozy
Mystery!!!’ " -- Lori Caswell,
GoodReads
"This
is the second book I've read by this author, Linda O. Johnston,
and I was not disappointed. This is my favorite kind of
reading, pets, mystery, and a bit of romance. I liked it so much
I awarded it 5*****" -- Gigi Ann,
GoodReads
"I
like how Linda O. wove in the information about the humane
society, and the “no animal was harmed in the making of the
film” bit. Very clever, and she kept me guessing with lots of
red herrings. That’s the sign of a good mystery writer, don’t
you think? I gave her story five paws." --
Humphrey,
Robena
Grant
"Linda O. Johnston loves dogs, and it shows in
the details of shelter life that are peppered throughout the
book, and the snippets of movie-set action seem fairly
accurate... It’s a fun series, and the mysteries take some
thought to solve. Animal safety in films is an interesting
theme. Lauren even is involved with what will happen to the cute
little canines when the filming is over. There are serious
issues raised in these books alongside the sleuthing. The
reading is fun, and these books need a new home. How about
yours?" -- Terrance McArthur,
Kings River Life magazine
"As always, when I read one of Linda’s books,
I think that this one is my favorite. Well, guess what, this one
WAS my favorite. Lauren is a likable character and her mishaps
never fail to entertain me. I was kept guessing until the end,
and even then could hardly believe who-done-it!" -- Tess Tipton,
Cozy Mystery Book Review
"Well, let
me just start out by saying this book caused me to lose some
sleep. It was so good
that I couldn’t put it down and had to stay up and finish it.
It was a great cozy mystery, especially if you love
animals. This book was
very well written and definitely kept my attention.
I was kept guessing till the very end, which to me, is what
makes a great cozy mystery. Lauren is a very likable
character. She is a
strong independent woman, a great role model.
It is the first book I’ve read by Linda Johnston, and it
won’t be my last. I
highly recommend reading this book..." -- Melina,
