Paranormal Romance, Romantic Suspense and Mystery Novelist

February 2013

Yep--don't know exactly how it happened, but I have two books published in February.  Different publishers, different genres, but coincidentally each is the fourth in its respective series.

Oodles of PoodlesOODLES OF POODLES, the fourth Pet Rescue Mystery, is themed in the film industry, very appropriate for a series centered around a no-kill pet shelter in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley.  It's sort of a story within a story, since it's about a movie being filmed about rescued poodles, starring--you've got it!--rescued poodles!

My protagonist Lauren Vancouver, who's the chief administrator of the HotRescues shelter, gets involved because of those cherished and adorable poodles.  She's also involved because one of the film's co-producers is Dante DeFrancisco, the generou benefactor of HotRescues.  Lauren finds herself visiting the film sets often on his behalf--and also to observe how the dogs are being treated.  Also present is a Certified Animal Safety Representative™ of the American Humane Association, which is the only group that can provide the coveted "No Animals Were Harmed"® designation--their registered trademark.

One night the director, who had been endangering the poodles during the filming, is run over by a car.  Murdered.  The chief suspect is Lauren's good friend, veterinarian and TV personality Dr. Carlie Stellan.  Of course Lauren has to find the real murderer and solve the crime to help Carlie...and the dogs.

OODLES OF POODLES was a lot of fun to research.  I got to communicate with people within American Humane and learn about their work with films and scripted TV shows that include animals.

The next Pet Rescue Mystery, TEACUP TURBULENCE, will most likely appear in January 2014.

Undercover WolfIn case you haven't guessed, I love canines.  Dogs, yes.  But even fictional ones, like people who shapeshift into werewolves!

UNDERCOVER WOLF is the fourth in my Alpha Force miniseries for Harlequin Nocturne.  It's a paranormal romance about a highly covert military unit of shapeshifters.

I think the cover blurb describes the story well:

In UNDERCOVER WOLF, PI Quinn Parran's mission is simple: to join Alpha Force, a unique military team of shape-shifters, and use their new elixir to enhance his shapeshifting abilities.  With the aid of Sergeant Kristine Norwood, each shifting experiment sparks something more volatile than any challenge he's ever encountered:  a primal passion.  And when Quinn's brother vanishes on his honeymoon and is suspected of murder, Quinn must join forces with Kristine to investigate.

With no choice but to go deep undercover as newlyweds, Kristine finds herself enjoying the charade a little too much.  She is attracted to Quinn, but isn't about to get involved with a shapeshifter.  Until their quest becomes more dangerous, and Kristine must put aside her doubts and put her full trust in Quinn...
